Go to Harbor Freight and buy their blades, they are 2 for 2.99 and last as long as the expensive ones.

I put in a new blade to cut a crib size quilt. At the end of the cutting, the blade appeared to very dull. I should think that the blades should last longer than that for what they cost. I am using an Olfa cutter and blades. Have any of you experienced this? Would you suggest I use a different rotary cutter?

I will tell you I have had no more problems with blades dulling early since I switched to Martelli blades and the Martelli mats!...I wait untill they have their Redlline Sale twice a year when everything is 50% off - and I stock up then. I believe they are the BEST blades and mats..........and with the cost of quilting cotton ever increasing, I cannot afford not to use the best blades and mats I can get..........

I've tried Harbor Freight blades and they were horrible. Couldn't even cut one layer. I've heard people say they had good luck with them. I think that different Harbor Freights have different blades.. it has to be something like that for some people say they are good and others that they don't work at all.

I am one of the customers that have had good luck with the Harbor Freight blades. The HF that I shop at has a hard time keeping them in stock. The person that orders for this store said they get customers from as far as 50 miles coming in asking for them. sorry some people have had bad luck, because HF blades are sooooo much cheaper.

I have had dull blades and there were 2 in th cutter.

Take your blade out of the cutter periodically and clean the blade and under the blade. Lint gets packed in there and causes skips while cutting. I also put a dab of machine oil or silicone on a Q tip and wipe the blade and the area where the blade sits. Emily

I also use the electric Tru Cut sharpener. Don't buy the less expensive one. You won't be satisfied with quality. I bought their higher priced one and have had the same results as stated in the quote below. But I'm also going to head over to the Olfa site & make sure I am putting them together correctly.

There is a really good tool out there called TrueCut. It sharpens 3 sizes of blades. I haven't bought a new blade in over a year. A blade can be resharpened several times. The cost of the sharpener will be covered fairly quickly if you use rotary cutters a lot.
