Rotary cutter blades
What is your favorite rotary cutter blades?
Whatever is on sale. They all seem to cut about the same.
I still use Olfa but then i have a lot of them. nothing purchased new recently. So can't say on "todays" blades.
All I have bought on sale have been fine. I'm not loyal to one blade brand.
I prefer Olfa 45 mm.
I did have a blue Dritz rotary cutter that got terribly rusty. Remember that not all blades fit all cutters. The Olfa has 3 notches in the center hole. |
I like the Martelli. I cut straighter with its design.
I have Fiskers, Olfa, Dritz, Clover, and Quilter's Select rotary cutters. All blades even the generic ones fit all of them. I have lot of cutters in a basket and usually grab one when I need it. Seldom do i use one enough to dull the blade for very long time. My QS cutter is my favorite for cutting for a long period of time.

I have a lot of cutters and all my blades fit in them. My least favorite cutter is the Martelli. But blades seem all the same to me. I buy in bulk usually on Amazon.
I also buy in bulk Amazon. There doesn't appear to be much difference in life of blade and when new, they all seem to cut the same. There is just no way I can find anything good to say about Olfa Endurance Blades. My first blade truly lasted but everything since that first experience has been very dismal. I sent repeated emails to OLFA and even mailed back dull blades that didn't last. I never heard a word from OLFA. Nothing. Needless to say, I go out of my way not to purchase blades from this company.

I've always thought the endurance blades were a waste of money. I had maybe 2 of them and they didn't last any longer imo.
I love Olfa and have purchased them for years on Ebay and not had any trouble. Then early last year I purchased a pack of 10 on Amazon from a 3rd party seller. When I opened the blades in December, I could tell I had a pack of counterfeit blades. Every one of them was bad. I called Amazon knowing it was too late to get my money back, but I wanted to report the company selling them. Now I will purchase from a known seller and test right after I purchase.
I only buy Fiskar blades. Of course some blades cut more than others. I bought some blades with a recommendation from someone on here. They aren't worth a darm, my old blades cut as good as these new blades. So I just buy what works.
I cut fabric for the last 3 quilts with an endurance blade and it's still cutting really well, so I will be purchasing them from now on...well worth the money!!
I buy Olfa 45mm but only when I have a coupon for JoAnn's. I am the worst for changing my blades or maybe I am just cheap cause even on sale they seem a little pricey.
