I have never been able to find any at our local HF. Someone always beats me to it, so I ordered on line

I ended up ordering from HF on line. I ordered 10 packages since I live so far from anything - I don't want to run out of blades. I just opened my first package a few days ago and the first blade had a rust spot on it and didn't cut well. Hopefully, the rest will be okay.

Thanks. What patterns or things do you use your skip stitch blades on?

How long should a rotary blade last? Seems the one that came with my rotary ruler did not last very long at all. Should I extras on hand to change often? I do not cut often so will blades deteriorate?
Thanks to all for your help.

 Thank you all, ladies, for the great tip. Just went to harborfreight.com and bought 10 packs of blades for my 45 mm cutter. the are on sale right now for $1.49 per pack of two. Let's take advantage. You'll find them on the their website under "Hand Tools" then "Specialty Knives". You have to pay shipping but you are guaranteed the stock. Thanks again and have fun cutting. :D

Have never found them at HF, always am told they will be coming in "next week." Got a great deal on five Olfa blades at the Quilt Expo on Friday, plus a free frosted ruler. I always buy supplies in bulk, saves me money and I know I'll not run out at a critical time.

I was telling the Olfa rep about the HF blades, she said she had never heard of them. I may be overly skeptical, but how could you be in the business Olfa is in and not have heard about the HF blades? Anway I told her about how much cheaper they are, etc. Nice if they did some research and considered lowering the price on their blades. Ah, I can dream can't I?

Are you really sure that's a good price if you buy that many and use them quickly? I still buy the name brand and use them for a long time. Yes, I do a lot of cutting and they are still cutting good. It's an irritation when they start missing a thread or 2 so that's when I change the blade. I usually get one with my Jo Ann's coupon so it is a good price for as long as it lasts for me. But that's just my opinion.
