I purchased a new 45 mm rotary cutter that was made in Denmark. It was in the original packaging and had no directions. (I previously had a little experience with rotary cutting, that went very smoothly.) My new cutter doesn't cut cleanly through one layer of fabric. Do I need to loosen the bolt to allow for freer spinning or is there another solution/explanation? (Sorry, I am technologically challenged and cannot upload a photo of the standard-looking item.)

The blade might be dull...Replace it and see how it does:)

I tend to overtighten the cutter nut. Now I tighten it down and then back it off a turn or two. Gives the blade enough to roll.

Thanks, Morag; I think the blade should be sharp, it still has oil on it from the factory.

Thanks also SewMary; I wasn't sure if the nut was something I should adjust or not, as my prior rotary cutter was perfect right out of the packaging and didn't even subsequently require any adjustment. I'll play with the nut; we should get along well!

You might also check if 2 blades were put in by mistake.

Thanks for the hint; there is only one blade inserted. I'll continue to try adjusting the nut, until the cutout fabric is not holding on by just a thread every four inches or so. I've purchased one of the same brand that I used to have as a "just-in-case" backup plan. Smooth rolling ahead anticipated . . .
