Rotary cutter with ruler attached
 

Eleanor Burns show a ruler that had a rotary cutter attached. I have searched the web and can't seem to find it. Can you help?

I believe Fiskar makes one, if that's any help.

It's been discontinued for a long time. I have one that I bought at Hancock's Fabrics back in the 90's. I keep it hanging on my wall for decoration. It is a real conversation piece when another quilter visits. Everyone wants to try it out. It takes a regular rotary blade and works great once you get the hang of it. I cut many a strips with it before there was a Shape Cut, Alto Quilt Cut or Accuquilt or Jelly Rolls.

I have seen one in Joann's in the scrapbooking section. I believe it is the same thing, but not sure. It's worth checking out.

I bought mine there a year or two ago while passing through.
It's all they for cutting fabric in the shop.

At the time, they were the only place in the US that carried them.
It took them awhile to put it up on the web - I kept sending people to the site with no luck - until they had the right size boxes to ship them in as the ruler is longer than a priority box.

I recently noticed a few other shops are selling them as well (but all for the same price).

Pricey, but useful.
Unfortunately, no coupons.

Is it worth the price? Advantages?

Wow! That's neat, MTS. Is there a steep learning curve?

I found a video on this item but I am confused: Are they using the grid on the cutting mat to determine width of the cuts or are they actually using the ruler for measurements?

Reason I ask is I can't see if there is a starting edge on the cutting edge of the ruler. I use my rulers to determine width/length - I never use the grid on my cutting mat.

Confused.............

I have one of the older ones. You use the lines on your cutting mat below the ruler. It is very easy to use. I don't know why they stopped making the 24" ones. I actually bought mine at Walmart a long time ago. The ones they have in the scrapbooking dept. at Joann's are only 12" (I think).

I have had a Fiskers for maybe 10 years. DH bought it at walmart for Xmas gift. Can not imagine cutting without it.
