I have changed blades, checked how the nut is tightened down, even checked flipped over my rotary mat--still my cutters keep skipping at a pretty regular rate. What is happening? Most importantly--how can I fix it?? What am I missing?

I have a Dritz rotary cutter that skips if lint is packed between the blade and the holder. When I clean it out I cuts perfectly.

If you cut on the same lines of your mat all the time you may have created a groove that is causing your blade to skip a spot when you cut across the mat perpendicular to the grooves.

Are you putting enough pressure on it? Are you standing above the blade rather than sitting and being at an angle to it?

Try a few cuts laying your fabric diagonally across your board and see if it is the grooves in it causing this :D:D:D

Make sure you don't have two blades on. I have done that a couple of times.

Once I had two of them in there. Once I separated them, it worked fine.

Even new blades can be bad. Try several. Clean/dust cutter. TRy other spot on mat.

Thanks for all of your help. Thus far nothing has worked, but I will keep trying different angles and heights. It may be just me afraid to put more pressure on it, as I am getting Physical Therapy on my shoulder for my rotator cuff.

I have accepted the skipping as a normal feature. I just go over the skipped area a second time or clip it with scissors.
