Rotary Cutter

My husband bought me a new rotary cutter this summer. The blade was a big funky on it so I haven't used it much. Today I decided I just need to put a new blade in it. So I opened a new package of blades and I changed the blade. Now it's even worse. Shreds the material and I have little fuzzies everywhere.

Anyone else had a bad package of blades? Or is there something else wrong? I went back to using my mini one and am thinking about buying a different brand.

Are you sure you only put in one blade? Last time mine did that, I had accidentally put in 2. Also, I am not sure, but I think you can put them in backwards too. I buy the Olfa blades and they have some printing on one side so I make sure that is facing up.

What kind is it? What kind and blades are you using?

Sounds like there are 2 blades in it. Double check :) that!

Sounds like you have 2 blades in there.

Check for two blades! That was what was wrong when I had the trouble you are describing. froggyintexas

Wow! Never thought of that! I did pull one blade off (with my tweezers, handling these is scary!) when I took it out of the package, but maybe it wasn't a 2 blade package. Maybe it was 4??? I will check. Thanks gals.

Great tip friends! Haven't done that yet myself, but there is always time! Now I know what to look for!

Well...took my cutter apart. Pulled out one blade! Yippy! But still didn't work! So I fiddled with it some more. I had THREE blades on there! Now it works great. Thanks gals for the awesome advise. You are fabulous. I've been piecing all morning. What a delight.

Most of us have done that at least once. They sure stick together. A drop of sewing machine also is a good tip to put on a new blade.
