?? Rotating cutting mat ??

Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone has ever replaced the top of one of the Olfa rotating mats? I have worn the middle section almost through and thought maybe I could somehow glue a new mat right over the old one? I have looked all over online to see if I could just order the new top (12 x 12) but have not been able to find such a thing. Thank you!

I think it is a brilliant idea. I would use contact cement brushed on very smoothly, the way you would do a laminate counter top. Let us know how it turns out.

I made my own rotating mat using a lazy Susan I bought at a Dollar Store and a 6" x 9" cutting mat I bought at JoAnn's with a 50% off coupon. It is smaller than the Boston Revolver, but it is perfect for cutting dogears off HSTs or for cutting with the Marti Michell templates. I used E6000 craft glue. It works great. If I knew how to trim the corners off so that it was round, it would be perfect. Would a utility knife work? Keep in mind that I am the queen of klutzy.

There are some 12x12 mats out there (other brands) - http://www.amazon.com/Westcott-Self-.../dp/B001D6KORY

Isn't this one adorable (13x13)? http://www.joann.com/self-healing-13...k-/xprd646736/

However, if you have an old mat I would be tempted to cut it up and try it out instead of buying a new top.

I'm heading to my local dollar store tomorrow to look for a lazy suzan. Hadn't thought of making my own rotating mat!

If you are going to buy a NEW mat, why ruin it by gluing to the old one? IF you have cut through the old one, it will eventually break. Which will cause the one glued on top to have a compromised area!
