Has anyone tried the Olfa rotating mat and the Brooklyn Revolver? If so, which do you like best?

I so want one of these. A man at work gave me a very nice lazy susan base and told me to just glue a mat to it. Haven't managed to unearth it due to the pile of fabric laying on it from Christmas... But I'm getting closer hahahaa. I'll let you know if this works or not.

It probably won't work... sad but true. I've thought of doing the same thing but the mat is too flexible. You'd have to attach it to plywood first.
I'd love to have the revolving mat... either one would make me happy... add it to my Christmas list I guess! Lori |
I have both the 12" x 12" and the 17" x 17" Olfa mats, use them both quite a bit. Bought the smaller one at JoAnns, using a 40 or 50% off coupon, then found the larger one on sale at JoAnns online.

I've been thinking about getting the rotating mat...but still haven't yet. Ruth, said there is a 50% off sale at JoAnns starting today... I might check it out if I go.

Ooh I wish we had a Joanns here! I don't think there are any in Canada. I went to one back in 2000 when I was driving through Bangor on a little driving excursion from Nova Scotia to Florida. I also found this "to DIE for" fabric store on the border of North and South Carolina! It was called Mary Janes!! I died and gone to heaven!! ooh the damage I did there too!!! I believe it was the size of Costco!!! The quilting section alone was the size of the food section at Costco. I nearly hyperventilated!!! LOL

I have the smaller Olfa rotating mat and dearly love it. Really wanted the larger one, but even half-off, way more than I want to spend.

I HAVE THE OLFA ONE. I GOT MINE AT HANCOCKS WHEN THEY WERE HALF OFF. I LIKE MINE ALOT ALSO.

Hi fellow Quilters! I use a wooden lazy susan with a smaller rotary cutting mat! I have had no trouble with it slipping or sinking!
If your mat sinks (due to a rime on the lazy susan) you can build it up with a layer or two of batting or felt. I didn't have to do this as mine didn't have a deep ring! Hope this helps. Froggy :) |
I was wondering about using a sheet of plexaglass glued to the lazy susan base and then applying the mat. The plexaglass can be cut to size by your local hardware store and is approx $2.00. This is what I thought I'd do with mine.
