Row by Row Experience 2015
I just returned from a 13 day road trip and collected many patterns at different quilt shops for the Row by Row quilt. Getting ready to start mine, although, too late to be a winner, I am wanting to make one or two from the patterns I collected. Anyone have any quilts or rows that they can post pictures of?
|
Facebook has pages from each state ...showing finished projects. It is fun to see how everyone puts their quilts together. Intend to visit pages of R x R States far from me too.

How do you find them on Facebook?
|
if you go to the Row by Row site, then the "start here" where is shows a plate for each state. Click on the state you want, and right below the Row by Row part that shows up - is a little text that says something like "see rows on facebook" and you click that and it will open up the facebook page for that state - and you can see the winning quilts.
I won a week ago, and am still waiting to see my quilt posted. The store has to send the pictures to the "owner" of the state site and then it gets posted. The store asked to keep the quilt for a few weeks, and I didn't get any pictures of it before I took it in, so I can't share pictures until it gets posted on facebook - or I get it back and take my own. |
I have gathered a few from around me. Some are more Texas focus than on the water (cattle, windmill, water trough) some are more tropical fish or beach chairs and lemonade. I think I will pair up a couple for small over the mantle wall hangings. I love the concept and it's fun right now to collect the patterns.

I have enough charity quilting and since I don't drive, it is hard to get to all the stores in So CA. Glad you had a good time.

Missouri Row by Row colorado Row by Row, etc sandy |
Was just hoping to see what fellow quilting board members have done.

I have been working on my Row by Row patterns.I just picked up the pattern and planned to use my own fabrics. I have about 5 done but found that each needed to be quilted or appliqued before finishing it so I decided to do the QAYG for each strip. I am using Leah Day's idea of using a narrow strip to attach them together which is suppose to finish out at 1/2 inch.I thought this might be easier than sewing strips all together then quilting it. No pictures yet as we have company and the sewing came to a halt!

I designed one with help from a designer in CA. Tried to include pp. regular piecing and applique. The colors are not quite right but at least you get the idea!

I love those plates, I haven't had a chance to even try to go get any this year though. I still have the patterns from last year - haven't even started a single one! I have so many more intentions than hours...
|
I've been traveling a lot this summer so have collected lots of patterns and license plates, but haven't had time to sew a single one! I plan to collect a few from Southern CA this weekend when I take my parents to visit my sister.
|
Has anyone been to a shop that has a vertical row by row pattern? I have seen some in finished quilts but don't know what shops have them. I would love to be able to get a couple if I knew what shops have them.
|
If you go to the Facebook page for each state you'll see pics of the rows. Someone named Cindy has made up lists of the city, state, shop and a pic of the row for that state. She has not done all of them but quite a few. Those are also on the state's facebook site. I have picked up many this summer and have friends and family who have picked up a truckload for me. Some rows aren't worth the drive, but some are so dang cute. I sure hope they all have them for sale by mail after the Sept. deadline. Right now they will only mail out the license plates.

Here's my Row by Row quilt that I turned in to win at my favorite LQS. The row on the top left was designed as a vertical row. The row is from Stitched With Love in McKinney, Texas (the store where I turned it in). The lower right row could go either way since it's geometric, not a picture. |

The shop in Philomath Oregon has one of an old fashioned water pump and one in Albany, Oregon has one of water balloons and faucet to fill them. I am sure there are more around, but that is all I have seen so far in my wandering in Oregon.

Boy, I am with Costumegirl. I can't hardly believe how fast some people have been! Running to 7 different shops, piecing, batting, binding in such a fast time!!!! Geesh, they were turning them in before I was able to even purchase 3!! That's beyond impressive.
I had THOUGHT I was a quilter but I sure can't compete with that!!! |

Congratulations on being a winner! I know your quilt must be beautiful! I have collected some rows from different shops and finished two rows, just started the third one. It sure has been fun and the rows are pretty.

There are some vertical rows in Florida for sure.

And you don't have to keep them in rows. I broke up some of the rows and actually made extra blocks for 2 of the rows... some people used 9 or 10 rows. You have until October 31 to turn in a finished quilt to any participating shop that hasn't had a previous winner. You don't have to use that shops row in the quilt. Last year some shops in Michigan never had a winner. |
The Stitchery in Rome GA has a vertical pattern. "It's Raining Color" - super cute pattern (I think) and a very lovely, friendly shop. Hope I get to go back soon!

That is so cute! Love the faces.

Here's the quilt I did this year. All rows from Texas. I'm collecting other row by row patterns for future use. It was a fun experience. Plus a challenge to read and understand each shops "style" of presenting a pattern. |

I turned my quilt in a couple of weeks ago. I had 9 rows in mine. It was a lot of fun and a lot of work!
I changed quite a few of the blocks and added my own touches to several of them. Thought it would make more "mine". |
Beautiful quilt sewenseams!
Looks like you might have collected rows from somewhere in the east. |

Love the finished quilts, Ladies! You've all done a great job!
And congrats to the winners. That's a very nice prize. HillCountryGal, did you make it to the new shop in San Antonio - Mesquite Bean Fabrics? |
