Ruined iron w/fusible webbing
I'm in the middle of fusing webbing unto t-shirts. This is a quilt for my DIL and her association with MOPS. Guess I wasn't paying too much attention and what I ironed was not the fusible type. My iron now has stuff all over it. What do you use when trying to clean gunk of the surface? Will try anything.

Put salt on a paper bag and "iron". Another is: Iron motion on a fabric softener sheet (not sure if used or unused makes a difference).
I've tried this method with success, let iron cool completely and use alcohol to clean it. It should come right off. Once it is all off will heat the iron and use a piece of wax paper to make my iron glide on the material.

I have an iron cleaning kit that is made for Rowenta irons (I assume you could use it for other brands) and it sold at JoAnn's Fabric. Good Luck !!
I get a product called "Faultless Hot Iron Cleaner" I found it at Walmart by the laundry soaps and cleaners.
Hot iron over waxed paper several time.
I use a SOS pad to clean my iron.
Let it cool completely and then go at it with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. I have used the Rowenta iron cleaner also but usually use the magic eraser. And purchase an appliqué pressing sheet! I got mine at Joann's with a coupon. I use it whenever I am using any type of fusible. No more fusible on my iron since I got it. Now, fusible on my ironing board cover because I had the wrong side of the fusible touching it is another story!!!! :o

After you get the gunk off your iron, get out your parchment paper. Put a length on top of your ironing board, use another length of parchment between your work product and your iron, and this won't ever happen again.
