Ruler Quilting Bpok Recommendation?

Hey,

Can anyone recommend a good book for ruler quilting. I'm a beginner but I have been doing some ruler quilting. I'm mostly looking for pattern ideas but tips and tricks are welcome too.

I should note I have the Westalee basic ruler set and I've been experimenting with a couple of cat-shaped templates I had my husband create on his 3D printer.

Thanks

Amanda Murphy rulerwork book is a good one.

I have not yet ventured into ruler work but it is definitely in my future! I love the look. I must be nice to have a DH that has a 3D printer to make such rulers for you just the way you would like them.

I don't have any books but there are Youtube videos and also if you are a member of Bluprint they have classes.
Angela Walters is great.

I'm relatively new to FMQ with rulers too. After looking at some books available through my local library, I purchased "Rulerwork Quilting Idea Book: 59 Outline Designs to Fill with Free Motion Quilting, Tips for Longarm & Domestic Machines" by Amanda Murphy. It has lots of helpful tips and design ideas.

Janet Collins has a good book, but it is specifically for the Westalee rulers.

angela Walters has several good books and she also has a FB Free Motion challenge (think she's on 3rd one) that gives you lots of tips/techniques. Her Shape-by-Shape books show lots of designs and many use rulers and are "dot-to-dot" (meaning you use seams on blocks to help guide off of)

We're having fun with the printer that's for sure. Right now its just templates. I think putting together something that has ruler marks on it is the next step once I get more experience with the techniques.

Oh! DH has been talking about getting a 3D printer, but I hadn't thought about making my own rulers! Thank you for the great idea!

Try the YouTube videos from Handi Quilter Live on ruler work. They show them in use with various purposes. Has helped me a lot. You might find them helpful as well.

Thanks BonnieJP for posting this book info. I went to Amazon to check it out and seems if you have Prime and the kindle app, you get to read this book for free for (i think) 30 days. Love to be able to check out a book before I purchase. I have it delivered to my fire tablet and makes it much easier to read than on my kindle.

Most ruler makers have youtube videos on their rulers

I agree. Lisa Calle (Hagstoz), Bethanne Nemesh, Linda Hrcka are some of the ones I really admire.

I would love to see a pic of the templates that you printed. I thought that would be a great way to use those printers! I have purchased a few basic rulers, and after trying to figure them out on my own, I turned to YouTube.

I would love to see a photo of the templates that you printed also. DS has a printer and would be glad to print something if I can figure out what to print.

I Googled "Amanda Murphy" and found a free downloadable book for Kindle. Then I downloaded the free Kindle app for my PC.
thanks for the advice.
