Rulers for long arm quilting

I have seen some wonderful quilting on this board and many of the quilters used rulers for some of their work. The rulers I have found online are quite expensive. I was wondering if anyone has a source for quilting rulers or a substitute for them? Thanks in advance for your input. :)

Yes, they are expensive. I have several but paid the going rate. If there is a less expensive way to purchase them, I am interested as well.

I've been looking at them too. I'll likely just cut my own when I'm ready...or have one of the hardware or plastic stores cut them. I also will need a stabilizing platform...probably just making that too.

I have ordered from this site several times and have been very happy. The rulers have minimal markings, but you cannot beat the price:

Make sure that you select the longarm templates and rulers.

I only have a couple, and have bought all used. They are pricey! As paperprincess said, be sure you are ordering longarm rulers, as they are much thicker to allow the hopping foot to ride along the side.

You're right, they are expensive. You can sometimes find a special price at a quilt show. I have quite a few, from various sources, some that I "just had to have" - but still haven't used.

I suggest you watch the Marketplace forum on www.mqresource.com which is a machine quilter's forum. Some people sell rulers and gadgets they no longer use. Sometimes someone is upgrading to computerized quilting and getting rid of things. I purchased some circle lord templates used that way. Check other machine quilting forums as I think each major company has forums for their machines.

I'll try mqresource. I had forgotten about that. Why are they all so expensive?

have you ever just gone to a store to purchase 3/8" thick Plexiglas? it is expensive.
that's what the rulers are made of.
and, they have to be thicker than your cutting rulers so the 'hopping foot' does not go up over the top of them- breaking needles, causing all kinds of bad, bad things.
a good source for them is the dealer who carries your long arm machine- they often have specials and offer deals because you have one of their machines.
