My largest mat is always on my cutting table. Others are hung behind the door. Rulers hand on a peg board. If they come holeless, my DH drills a hole in them for me. Little rulers such as the F & P Binding Tool is in a sandwich bag along with the instructions and they are on the peg board, too.

I found a little rack mean to hang kitchen utensils from IKEA. My husband mounted that on the side of a cheap but tall bookcase I have in the sewing room/office. It's great to have them accessibly hung and yet out of the way. Mats are stored under my table pad in the dining room. It's the only way I can keep those big mats flat and safe. No one knows when they're having dinenr at our house that the mats are there and they're protected by the table pad.

I store my mats lying flat under the bed. I might as well use that space for something besides dust bunnies.

I just took down a clock that stopped working and used a space that was wasted in my sewing room to hold my rulers. Normally I have a huge hang-up about putting nails in my wall (no pun intended), but I gave myself "permission" to do so when I kept looking for my rulers and ended up breaking one because it slipped to the floor. I still have more to hang and haven't decided where to put them yet. I am thinking about using the other side of the door.
Formerly wasted space above my cutting area. The next space to be used for my rulers. |
