I think fingernail polish remover (acetone) will mess up your ruler. Be sure you try solvents on a small corner of an old ruler before you try to use it on your new ruler. Not sure what's in WD40, but you need to test it first as well.

Yes it is the same one. Now I understand..duh..its not paper but a non slip back that doesn't come off . lol.

heat it with a hair dryer, then pull it off.

Are you sure there is paper on the back? They look like they are made cloudy.

test it on a tiny bit first but I've used this many times on all sorts of gunky gluey stuff.
