Your fabric choices are wonderful Congratulations to you for challenging your mind to work outside the box so to speak. You are on your way and I wish you well.

This is a funny example because I can't look in the mirror and blow dry my hair! I had no depth perception for the longest time too. How about you? I'd fall off curbs. I had to have someone cross the street with me because I'd walk then look for traffic!

see if you can get a DR to check you out for Vestibular Damage. has a lot to do with balance issues also as well as the ones from the brain injury. H*U*G*S |
I have seen an ophthamologist. I'm fine now that way. It took awhile to get those things working well again. I also had no sense of smell. Couldn't follow a recipe or read for ages. I couldn't cook for years.

I bought a sewing machine that practically threads itself because I found threading a machine really difficult. I tried a shadow lap quilt and got the shadow pieces in the wrong places. I'm going to finish the quilt but it was frustrating. I find spatial things really difficult. Also processing directions is another exercise in frustration. I went to an occupational therapist for a couple of years who led me step by step in making my first simple sewing project.
For others who are reading this here is an example: you want to blo-dry your hair. you look in mirror, blo-dryer raised ready to dry hair. Not a simple thing to do. The brain has to try and match all movements to what it is seeing in mirror. Spacially this is a problem; and not so easy. |

Excellent fabric choice. And don't hesitate to seek help or encouragment from your friends here!

Thank You :)

I don't think I know what a stacked coin quilt looks like. Do you have a picture of the pattern? Your fabrics are lovely.

Thanks for sending that to me. It doesn't look too hard. Think I'll go with lighter colors, if I ever make it.

Beautiful colors.

I can't believe I opened this thread, and learned there were quite a few others here with a brain injury, like me!
It happened 3 years ago, and one problem I've noticed is that I have trouble making decisions. Used to be, if I went to Joann's, I was in heaven, and had a project in my head for every bolt of fabric. Now, I just can't decide, there are too many! I tell the kids it's a good thing they already have names and I tell my husband it;s a good thing we're still married, if I had to decide now I don't know that I could. When my son was little we'd used to laugh, her couldn't pick from a plate of chocolate cookies, they were all the same. Now I understand. Something I learned, that might be helpful, might not be, for dizziness, I had great results with something I never heard of, called the Epley manuever. It's a very noninvasive way to rearrange the rocks in one's head (the ear plays a huge part in balance) I'm greatly impressed with your color choices, the quilt is going to be lovely |
