Twisted Quilter 08-30-2010 08:08 AM

I have finally figured out why I sometimes feel soooo overwhelmed when working on a project. It's because I can't stay away from the picture section. Everytime I go in there I see so many gorgeous quilts! My mind goes into overdrive with all kinds of ideas and colors, and I can't wait to start my next quilt. Does it actually happen...NO, because by the time I finish the quilt I'm working on, someone will post another goregous quilt and I can't decide which one I want to try. This is a never ending cycle! Someone please ban me from the picture section.

Grama Lehr 08-30-2010 08:09 AM

Just consider that you are "widening your horizons". That is very important in life. We don't want to be stagnant. Because of the picture section I just got the Stack N Whack book, and 3 others so I can try some of the things I have seen in the Pictures section. We will never ban you :!:

sewmuchmore 08-30-2010 08:32 AM

Look at it this way, each picture is a new adventure. Enjoy it ,because we are not going to ban you. :XD:

BRenea 08-30-2010 08:47 AM

I hear ya! I need someone to ban me from this site, stop me from reading/looking at all quilting related media and take away my car keys so I can't go fabric shopping! My husband's no help, he's an enabler!!!

craftybear 08-30-2010 08:53 AM

we want to give you more ideas and challenge you to try different patterns

this site is very Addicting!

ragamuffin corner 08-30-2010 08:53 AM

You better ban me also. Since I found this site and everyone is so wonderful and talented I cannot get anything done. I am afraid I will miss something.

Mousie 08-30-2010 10:42 AM

well, if you get banned, then you'll be sitting right beside me and there is no topic of conversation better than the next idea, next quilt, new fabrics I just bought,....and oh you should see this new blue i have...
hence, we would be enabling the problem that put us there, LOL...but what a good time we would have!!!!

I was GOOOD all month waiting for the super sale at my lqs. Called this morning just to make sure before i drove way over there...sale was off Saturday.
But guess what! the owner remembered me, and how much I love fabric ;-) ;-) ;-) and offered to extend the sale one more day after asking her dh.
He said,"to do what she wanted!" thank you, a's dear hubby!
So off I went, to make good on my promise, that indeed she would not be sorry.
I'm not sorry either, but I think I hear my checkbook sniffling a little... :XD:
That's ok. Won't go back in there till January...if somebody would only chain me to my machine, lol!
(I can do it, I can do it! I CAN stay away from fabric stores till...January??? oh dear, oh dear...)

Lady Shivesa 08-30-2010 11:21 AM

I too should be banned from the picture section. I swear, I could sit there for hours and look at all the gorgeous creations. Even if I don't post - you can be sure I checked out and drooled over your quilt! :)

Dee 08-30-2010 11:24 AM

I hear you. According to stash and pictures I'll have to live a thousand yrs.

sahm4605 08-30-2010 11:43 AM

if you think about how much time we spend on the board looking at everything, if we were hand quilting or hand piecing we would have a ton of quilts done. hehe (just have to have someone else type for us.

Between that & the quilting magazines, I will have to live to be t least 150!!!!lol! & throw in a rare kit!

annette1952 08-30-2010 09:17 PM

I'm afraid I wouldn't be much help. I would only enable! I too have the same problem! Isn't it great!! LOL

nana pat 08-31-2010 01:27 AM

you are banned {{{finger wiggeling}}} haha just kidding.

Patched 08-31-2010 05:20 AM

My stash and stack of ideas gets higher and higher and my pile of quilts does not grow, because I'm on this sight getting more and more ideas and ordering more and more fabric. Got to figure out a way to stay on this board, order and sew all at the same time. lol

Karen Duncan 08-31-2010 05:51 AM

The Nebraska State Fair moved from Lincoln, NE to Grand Island, NE this year. the quilt show went from about 250 quilts to 701 quilts this year. Now that is an overwhelming experience. There are some wonderful quilters in NE. Quilts are still reeling in my head.

how very true

grandme26 08-31-2010 06:35 AM

You are so right.

mar32428 08-31-2010 08:16 AM

If I'm having a bad day (and they do crop up) or am discouraged about a project, all I have to do is come here to get a few laughs and realize I'm among friends and just like you.

CarrieAnne 08-31-2010 08:18 AM

ME too!!!!!

klgreene 08-31-2010 09:34 AM

I can't help you, I'm addicted too. But I guess if you need an addition, this is the way to go. It's 11:30 and I have not done an absolute thing here at home. I've been looking at this board and I'm not done yet. Oh well, quilting this afternoon, clean......when ever I get around to it.

KGrace 08-31-2010 02:14 PM

Like all the other comments, I, too, love the pictures!!! Being rather new to quilting and this fantastic board, I'm understanding what others have repeated stated ... "have added another beautiful quilting design to my list to do"! My list is rapidly growing! Can't wait to have enough scraps though to try a scrappy quilt or two (have saved couple pics of those that really catch my interest). I do limit my time at computer, as hubby has his interests he uses it for!

Annaquilts 08-31-2010 02:16 PM

I hear you. I am a color holic.

quiltingaz 08-31-2010 05:18 PM

I am new to this site, but I have similar problems. I see something else I want to do and buy supplies, but unfortunately I have a tendency to not finish previous project. I find myself with a lot of UFO's. And my husband doesn't help. When we are traveling somewhere, he looks up local quilt shops so we can see what they have. I try to limit spending but sometimes he just says buy that if you like it. Hard to resist!

Annz 08-31-2010 08:16 PM

Yes that sure can be a problem. Sit down and pick just one to work on.

fancifrock 09-01-2010 06:05 AM

I'm with you. I have got to start a training session that stops me from looking at (and buying!!!!!!!!) any new quilt patterns. I know I am not going to live long enough to finish all of them. OH WELL ----- guess it could be worse.

Rina 09-01-2010 06:19 AM

I thought it was only me doing what you do!!

quiltingaz 09-01-2010 07:41 AM

I will get them done. Of course, I need more space to get yhings done. We are currently living in a 5th wheel and have been for a year. Our house will be completed in about a month, so then I can dig all these creations out of storage and finish. If I am not crazy about them (isn't that why we do not finish some?) then I will donate them to the local shelter. I have actually finished a top last week that was a kit purchases over 5 years ago. Now to figure out how I want to quilt it!

zz-pd 09-02-2010 08:59 PM

Oh you should see my must do list, but I can't do any of them tell next year. but look out next year, then I can make something for me. Yippy. :D God bless.

Ain't gonna happen, because we're all powerless to stop ourselves from looking at the beautiful quilts others have posted.

Thanks to all of you for sharing!

Quilter2B 09-10-2010 07:38 AM

I have to admit it - that is my favorite section and the one I hit first. I find the beautiful projects to be food for my soul. Now that we have gotten thru our big move and I am reorganizing my sewing room, I have to get busy!!!
