When going to the link below to vote on for #8 (as requested in another topic) there was a question "What do you make with your selvages?" Do any of you save and use you salvages, if so how do you use them?

Am going to use mine to make a valance for my new sewing/hobby room! Can't wait to get going on this project!
|
I have a friend who uses them...she made a tote bag...really cute...and makes me wish I had saved my salvages!
|
i used to make string quilts with them, but i have run out of (time)...so now i still save them but i send them to anyone asking for salvages for their projects...i seem to always have a basket full. :)

Selvages are used in quilts, purses and many other thing to add a bit of uniqueness to their projects.
|
I saved my salvages because I saw different things you can make with them. If anyone wants them and wants to pay postage let me know. I keep tripping over the box and need the space so I can, well, you know...buy more for my stash. LOL

There's a tutorial on this board on how to make decorative leaves . Just do a search on selvedge.

This is a good website to get started on a quilt blocks:

I use them to tie up my tomato plants in the garden.
|
I have started to tuck them through my blinds in the sewing room. A visual reminder of what I have sewn with.
My husband does remote control airplains and I'll give him my selvages to hang them from the basement ceiling. They don't stretch and are easy to tie and free. |
