Well folks I just got back from San Antonio and had a wonderful time. BeBe who is on our quilt forums all the time picked me up at my hotel & took me to her favorite quilting store. It is the most wonderful place you have ever seen. They have over 8000 bolts of fabrics. It's a good thing I don't live that close or I would never have a cent to my name, it would all go to this store. You meet the nicest people here. Got a shop hop Texas Quilt & can't wait to start. I never knew some of the fabrics even existed. BeBe, thanks again your a very special person.

It's called Creative Sewing Center. They have a web page too. It's www.creativesewingonline.com. Do you know where it is?

Puzwhiz 06-16-2008 07:59 AM

Oh, yes. I know where that is. They do have a lot of fabric.

My DIL took me there and oh my goodness. It is a gingerbread sort of house with cool porch and room after room of goodies, fabrics, buttons, purses, patterns, big classroom, and their sales persons are so helpful and knowledgeable. Even their bathroom was neat with antique thread holder boxes, etc... My 7 year old grandson went room from room writing down what he saw, then interviewed a salesperson. He told them to get ready for a rush of younger women after he gave his talk at school, not like his old grandma.... We all laughed so hard, and he was serious... we had such fun... It is a must go/see place if anywhere near San Antonio.. My DIL bought her first fabric for a rag quilt for her youngest boy , night

Do you mean you went to Las Colchas not Creative Sewing Center.
Las colchas is in a house and the other is in a strip mall.

Grandma Cindy 06-17-2008 06:34 PM

sorry , when I went to the site I saw the picture of the mall, ooopps, I will have to ask my daughter in law the name of the shop and the town but it is so charming and a true delight...

My friend and I are going to San Antonio in Oct. Where is that shop and can I check it out on the internet? What is the name? Thanks for the heads up.

Debra Mc 06-18-2008 05:49 AM

The name of the shop is Creative Sewing Center. It is located on 11777 West Ave@ Blanco, San Antonio, TX 78216. They have a web page- www.creativesewingonline.com. If you sign up right now they are offering a free pattern. I forgot phone number- 1-210-344-0791 or 1-877-331-7862. BeBe can give you directions, it's not real far from downtown. Just have to know what roads to take. Hope to go back next month as husband has another conference. Happy quilting. DebraMc 8)

Another shop in the area is Creative Creations in Kerville. Plan on spending hours there, though not over whelming, it's simply so beautiful and organized... Cindy

Debra, Thanks to your post I found a new quilting resource I didn't know about. I live SE of San Antonio in a rural area and the only fabric store that I knew about was is Hancock Fabrics... their supply of quilting equipment leaves a little bit to be desired.
