Also check out your lqs, the 2 I frequent the most let you use their tables for pinning when they aren't otherwise occupied. They use the long 6 ft banquet tables and you can use those big binder clips to hold your backing then just layer on the batting and top and start pinning

I go to my church to the fellowship hall. There I put two long tables together and spread out the backing. I sometimes have a larger quilt than two tables, but I can't reach across three, so I pin from the middle and then move the quilt left or right as I need to pin. I use painter's tape and binder clips to hold every thing taunt as I pin. It sure saves on the old knees!

If you have a quilt store that also does classes and does not mind you working on your quilts. Hey its worth the trip to use their large tables. I take mine and the ladies there also pitch in and offer their help if I need it. Oh well its just another suggestion. Also the floor works well too if you can get down there

I use to crawl around on the floor-rough on the knee's ,some fine lady her on the QB posted a suggestion of laying out on the bed-I have a king size bed and I still have to fanagle a little but much better on the knees and back

I love the idea of clamps - the spring loaded ones are fairly cheap at our local big box hardware, and will fit my cutting table, which binder clips won't. I will just need to hide them from my handy- man husband!

I use the board method all the time. If you don't have a table large enough, try asking to use one at your church or club house. If you find a table large enough, put "bed risers" under the legs to raise it to a comfortable height for working on.

I have problems using the floor (and we also have 2 dogs and 2 cats so it's fur central:)). For smaller quilts I use the dining table and for large I strip our bed and use that, it is queen size so quite handy. I also get my husband to help if I get a bit stuck. I plan on buying some large folding tables when I get rid of some of the kids stuff (how come they move out, but years later all their treasured belongings are still here????).

All are good suggestions. I use the tables at our community center. I mainly make king size quilts, so I use 4 or more. Tape the back and start spraying to keep the batting in place, then put the top down. I always anchor a few quilting pins around the quilt, too.
