If you are supposed to leave about 2" all around of the batting, how do you align the top and backing. If you can't tell I am a new quilter
Thanks Nanc |
Nanc, I always make the backing larger than the top so you won't have to worry about that. You can always trim it after, along with the batting.
Hope this helps!! :D |
You leave the backing 2" larger too
I like the backing to be just a tad wider than the batting. This helps me with sandwiching and lining up the top also. |
duh, of course. Thanks

Nanc, I have a lot of those DUH moments lol
This board always gets me through them!! :D |
OK so if I already cut the backing the right size how do I align?

you can pin around the edge of the top, flip it over and use the pin line to line up your back

When I have my layers laid out I fold the edge of the bottom over so it shows, then use chalk or a pin to mark the center, edge of a column, or whatever I'm trying to line up.
I've also heard of folks who quilt from the backing side though I've not tried that yet. |
