This Santa's little helper is ready to go on strike

Sewing Sisters let's hear it for our hard work. That Santa up in management doesn't have a clue. He just sits around all day while we pump out all the hard work with no over time pay.

Where is the UAW when you need them......these working conditions are terrible and what ever happened to a 8 hour work day and mandatory breaks....I didnt get lunch til 3 today between running to two different Joann's, Wal-mart, Hobby Lobby and two LQS. I've never heard of a job where you have to to get your own supplies....this Old Saint Nick guy has really got it easy,

Sewed til 1am yesterday (after working my 40 hour regular job) and just finished another 7 hour stint this afternoon. Whose idea was it for everybody to get together for Christmas parties this week??? I'm pretty sure my employment contract says the completion deadline is December 24 not December 18! I think I am going to call an employment attorney about breach of contract.

This sewing room is a pit. Looks like a hurricane went through. Joann's bags everywhere with no time to clean the place up or even take out the trash. Doesn't this place have any janitors???? OSHA would never allow this.

Slave labor Im telling you......This Kris Krengel is a real slave driver. Here's what he put on my work list. Five ten minute tablerunners (that never take me ten minutes for some reason). Four reversible aprons with accent fabrics and pockets on both sides, all made to size from a PXS to a size Woman's 20. One regular pieced tablerunner with matching placemats. A sewing basket. Four 4-in-1 placemats. Five scarves. Three snap purses and an appliqued crib quilt with matching pillow.

Oh yeah I forgot....it makes it all worth it when they open the package up and realize it is something made special for them and not some gift card.

Guess I will wait until 2013 to call for that strike vote, but that Claus guy better get his stuff together earlier next year or I just might go interview with the Easter Bunny--I heard you get better bennies with that guy.

Happy crafting all and hope you all take the time to enjoy the holidays!

we just have to learn to start earlier... i quilted two large quilts, embroidered the labels, and bound them. that took me a week. now i have to wash and pack them so i can fly out tuesday morning. the cookie dough is still in the fridge and the cards are still not addressed.

I agree! No matter what, I always close the door on my sewing room a week before Christmas. I like to bake, watch Christmas movies and enjoy our tree and decorated house. If I am locked away in my sewing room, I do none of that.

Every year I say I will start earlier but I don't.:D

Almost time to reap the rewards of the work.

The janitor at this sweat shop finally stopped in about midnight--must be a part time worker. She is not a very good cleaner but you can now see the floor and the cutting mat. Found the tops for all the rippers and markers that were missing in the melee.

That Santa Claus dude looked over my work pile today, actually smiled and said Good Job! want to sign up for next year's crew. I said I would have to think about it. Got a call this morning from the guys who run the Birthday Shoppe and they have several jobs lined up for me for next year already. Good thing about them is they space their deadlines out.

I really enjoyed your post. Thanks. I think you spoke for most of us. Not me!! No hand made gifts this year. Thought about it but voted it down. Maybe I will start right after Christmas for next year. Did that once and it took me 3 years to finish the quilts I planned for my 5 Grands. The 2 youngest were too old for the planned quilts and I had to start over with theirs. lol Again thanks for your very amusing post.

LOL! I know that trap! My Christmas spirit usually extends into January and February when I work on all my ideas that popped up too close to Christmas. Then they are ready for the next year! I usually make about a dozen Christmas cards for an exchange and finish them up by Valentine's Day for the following Christmas. One forum I participate in celebrates "Rudy Day" on the 25th of every month (or as close to that date as each can set aside some time) and use it to do prep for the coming Christmas.

Best wishes to everyone struggling to complete last minute projects! I just have a pair of knit slippers to finish sewing up and making pom poms for. Baking is done (DH was a huge help); a little wrapping still to do. And whose idea was it to have me born so close to Christmas? It's really difficult to set aside time to try to celebrate a birthday 5 days before Christmas! (TFL)

Merry Christmas!

I guess I should be grateful that I don't celebrate Christmas.. Hate those kind of deadlines. Chanukah was a breeze. We give money to the kids.. Considering the youngest is heading to college in Sept., I made her a present anyway. She got the IPad, and I made her a case. The only request for it was it had to have purple, and had to have a handle.. She loved it.. As for cleaning.. Not happening today.. Have to head out for two Christmas presents..
For those that are in the middle of fiishing their Christmas presents, enjoy it.. Christmas only comes once a year.. For those that are just starting the presents, welcome to the procrastinators club..
Have a merry Christmas.
