There is a sewing machine shop that is in Kokomo Ind been there since the 60's went there today-- had purchased a Janome from them they work on all machines.

let us know if you figure out the problem, I have the Sapphire 850 too. Love that workhorse! Its one of my top two slaves. Mine clicks too, when I move my slider for lowering/raising. I'm thinking maybe something isn't making the connection properly, and would be very fixable. I wish I had the service manual, I'm trying to get my hands on one :)
