Can anyone recommend any quilt shops in the Sarasota area?
Taking a vacation there soon and like to shop a bit for fabrics. Especially since I'll be unable to quilt for 2 weeks-I'll probably go thru withdrawal ! But I am taking some english paper piecing (hexagons) with me. Good portable project. Thanks, Diane |
Is that close to Dunedin? There is a really nice one there - Can't think of the name of it off the top of my head - google it...

There is a beautiful quilt shop on Rte 41 south of Venice which is not too far from Sarasota. It is called Quilts and More, there is one in Sarasota, but I do not know the name of it. It is located very close to the Ringling Bros. Museum and not far from the airport. Enjoy

Alma Sue's Quilt Shop in Sarasota, very nice shop, also check out Cotton Patch in Bradenton. Enjoy your trip.
|
sounds like some nice shops, enjoy your shopping
|
Thanks for your help ladies. I'm leaving tomorrow so I'll let you know how the shopping is!
|
The folks at Cotton Patch are really nice.
There's also a shop just off of 41 in Ellenton, if you wanted to go that far north. A Quilter's Haven. Small, but nice selection and very friendly staff. |
Alma Sue's Quilts, Sarasota, 3737 Bahia Vista St. working shop where they make quilts, ladies quilting by hand and machine, fabric and notions, best prices in town.
|
They have a nice quilt store in Venice also. It's on the island.Another one in Englewood on McCall.

I'm going to North Port for a day this week. Is there one shop I shouldn't miss? I think DH can only handle one on this trip. i'm travelling from Clearwater. Thanks!
|
If I was in Clearwater, I'd head to Rainbow's End in Dunedin! It can be a little overwhelming; DH might want to bring a book to sit and relax with while you browse. ;)

I have been to Sew Worth it in Sarasota 5507 Palmer Crossing CircleSarasota, FL 34233 , a very nice little quilt shop, if you you get a chance to ride south from there to Venice, Fl Deborah's quilt basket is nice. Oh and if your in Venice try The Soda Fountain, they make the best homemade milk shakes.
|
I liked Alma Sue's best in the area. I do love watching the mennonite (?) ladies hand quilt. Though there's one on Clarke's Road that's also pretty nice. Would love to hear where you went and what you thought of the shops there!

When you make it to a Quilt Shop look for a Country Register newspaper. It will list and map Quilt Shops in Florida. It also has their ads so you can see how big the shop is and whats going on.
