Sashiko Machine--Anyone have one?

I am thinking of getting one but would like to hear from some who have one how they are. I think it is just what I am looking for. Something to do my quilting.

Look at the back of the stitch.. It's not something I'd want on the backs of my quilts.

If you go to Advanced Search, in the space on the upper right, and type Sashiko into the keyword box, you will get many many threads where this was discussed.

I have one and I really like it. I have used it for runners and pillows. I reupholstered some outdoor furniture in patchwork and used it to quilt some designs on it. Everyone has different opinions about every machine. It doesnt look like hand quilting on the back, but no worse than regular machine stitching, IMO.

I have looked into it as I like the stitching.. but the price was a bummer. For me , its way too much $$ for a machine that only does that stitch.

I think it's a one-trick pony and an expensive one at that.

I have sewn on the new Babylock Sashiko machine. From the one stitch you can do 7 different stitch looks. The back stitches look okay for me, a chain stitch look. The one I used was on sale for less then $1000. I made a great looking stitch detailed tote. I don't put much stock in replies of it's too expensive, that is different for everyone. Here is a video of the machine that shows the back stitches: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRhq8C6JWj0&feature=related
