Sashing Feedback

Ok, I am just totally over this quilt and want it be done with it so I can move on to a new project. I was not a fan of the sashing in the pattern, I felt the blocks were too small, so chose a different route and narrowed it down to these. Which would you choose? 1, 2, 3 or 4?

quiltsfor 02-04-2023 10:50 AM

Picture 1, though they all look about the same

Fizzle 02-04-2023 10:55 AM

Right. They are so similar but my first reaction was 4

cjsews 02-04-2023 12:04 PM

I choose #2.

dunster 02-04-2023 02:05 PM

#4 for me.

Gay 02-04-2023 02:07 PM

More work but I'll be different and choose no 3

MawMaw B 02-04-2023 02:23 PM

4 lets the work of your blocks take center stage. In my opinion.

bearisgray 02-04-2023 03:03 PM

Number one.

Because it lets the complexity of the center blocks shine".

The borders and sashngs using the blocks with the little pieces -- those small blocks annoyed and distracted me.

But it is your quilt.

SusieQOH 02-04-2023 03:25 PM

Lisa, I like 3 the best. Your blocks are gorgeous!!!!! I understand your frustration though. Been there,.......... :)

Barb in Louisiana 02-04-2023 04:20 PM

I vote for #2. With the busier small blocks on the outside layer, it's like it lets the larger focus blocks shine.

ibex94 02-04-2023 05:03 PM

I agree with Barb. #2 because my focus went to the blocks in the center instead of getting distracted by the other patterns on the outside. Beautiful blocks!! This is going to be gorgeous!

Tartan 02-04-2023 06:12 PM

I like #2 the best. The little stars around the outer edges really add interest.

quiltedsunshine 02-04-2023 07:45 PM

#1 is more calm. #4 is more dramatic. I like #4.

Lena1952 02-05-2023 04:35 AM

My vote is for #2 for the same reason others have stated.

julybaby8 02-05-2023 05:17 AM

#4, I like the best.

Polliwog 02-05-2023 05:32 AM

All of the choices are very busy and detract from the complex block. This seems to be a trend among popular designers at the moment. I would choose narrower and simpler sashing. Faster and easier too!

LGJARN52 02-05-2023 06:09 AM

#4 was my favorite.

Jo Anne B. 02-05-2023 07:44 AM

#2 or #4. Beautiful quilt, beautiful work.

eparys 02-05-2023 08:07 AM

Before I say anything, they all would look fine. The blocks and your color choice are perfect!! Big question.... do you have a favorite?

For me - I like #4 the best and here is my reasoning The 9 patch border in #1, for me, is blah. In #2 my eye wants to look away from those gorgeous large blocks in the center to look at the border blocks, #3 - imho looks busy, #4 I like because I like that the blocks the blocks that draw my attention are all in the center and the subtle nine patch around the edges finishes up the quilt nicely and does not compete with the center.

mpepperm37 02-05-2023 09:18 AM

I like #4, for same reason above. It lets the central blocks stand out.

toogie 02-05-2023 09:50 AM

It seems everyone has their own opinion, including me at #1, so I think we only confused you more. You have good judgment so it will be fine whatever you do, people will like it. Relax and good luck.

LAF2019 02-05-2023 11:38 AM

My vote is for either #1 or #4. since everyone is so split, it seems like any choice would be a good one!

TheMerkleFamily 02-05-2023 12:33 PM

I agree with all of the above - for all of the reasons stated above! Each option would finish your project beautifully and influence the overall look in it's own way. I say select what appeals the most to you or maybe this is one of those that requires a little 'eenie, meenie, miney, moe.."

Can't wait to see the finish - it's bound to be fabulous!

Lena1952 02-06-2023 04:28 AM

Maybe it's time to number pieces of paper and pull one out of a hat? Seems as soon as I do this I immediately choose the one my mind wanted in the first place:=) I agree either will look wonderful.

b.zang 02-06-2023 11:26 AM

You know you're going to get plenty of votes for each one. They're all so similar one has to really inspect for differences. I recommend you put all your photos in a line and flip back and forth, not dissecting but simply reacting and go with the layout that creates a spark for you. I found mine in #4.

Watson 02-06-2023 02:02 PM

No. 1 for me.
