Sashing Feedback
4 Attachment(s)
Ok, I am just totally over this quilt and want it be done with it so I can move on to a new project. I was not a fan of the sashing in the pattern, I felt the blocks were too small, so chose a different route and narrowed it down to these. Which would you choose? 1, 2, 3 or 4?
Picture 1, though they all look about the same
Right. They are so similar but my first reaction was 4
I choose #2.
#4 for me.
More work but I'll be different and choose no 3
4 lets the work of your blocks take center stage. In my opinion.
Number one.
Because it lets the complexity of the center blocks shine". The borders and sashngs using the blocks with the little pieces -- those small blocks annoyed and distracted me. But it is your quilt. |
Lisa, I like 3 the best. Your blocks are gorgeous!!!!! I understand your frustration though. Been there,.......... :)
I vote for #2. With the busier small blocks on the outside layer, it's like it lets the larger focus blocks shine.
I agree with Barb. #2 because my focus went to the blocks in the center instead of getting distracted by the other patterns on the outside. Beautiful blocks!! This is going to be gorgeous!
I like #2 the best. The little stars around the outer edges really add interest.
#1 is more calm. #4 is more dramatic. I like #4.
My vote is for #2 for the same reason others have stated.
#4, I like the best.
All of the choices are very busy and detract from the complex block. This seems to be a trend among popular designers at the moment. I would choose narrower and simpler sashing. Faster and easier too!
#4 was my favorite.
#2 or #4. Beautiful quilt, beautiful work.
Before I say anything, they all would look fine. The blocks and your color choice are perfect!! Big question.... do you have a favorite?
For me - I like #4 the best and here is my reasoning The 9 patch border in #1, for me, is blah. In #2 my eye wants to look away from those gorgeous large blocks in the center to look at the border blocks, #3 - imho looks busy, #4 I like because I like that the blocks the blocks that draw my attention are all in the center and the subtle nine patch around the edges finishes up the quilt nicely and does not compete with the center. |
I like #4, for same reason above. It lets the central blocks stand out.
It seems everyone has their own opinion, including me at #1, so I think we only confused you more. You have good judgment so it will be fine whatever you do, people will like it. Relax and good luck.
My vote is for either #1 or #4. since everyone is so split, it seems like any choice would be a good one!
I agree with all of the above - for all of the reasons stated above! Each option would finish your project beautifully and influence the overall look in it's own way. I say select what appeals the most to you or maybe this is one of those that requires a little 'eenie, meenie, miney, moe.."
Can't wait to see the finish - it's bound to be fabulous! |
Maybe it's time to number pieces of paper and pull one out of a hat? Seems as soon as I do this I immediately choose the one my mind wanted in the first place:=) I agree either will look wonderful.
You know you're going to get plenty of votes for each one. They're all so similar one has to really inspect for differences. I recommend you put all your photos in a line and flip back and forth, not dissecting but simply reacting and go with the layout that creates a spark for you. I found mine in #4.

No. 1 for me.
