Sashing help requested.
4 Attachment(s)
I got on a "kick" of making the two sisters block several years ago. I made way too many of them. This is something I am guilty of. Going overboard on a square I like. Here are twenty of the blocks. It makes it a scrappy collection, but I do need help on the sashing. If anyone has an opinion, here is the place to post it. I thought of an olive/forrest green print (difficult to see on the right), black tone on tone (hard to see at the top of the picture), gold, cream tone on tone (lower left) or batik on the right. I am just at a loss and think I should use a tone on tone or a solid color. What is your opinion? Any other color suggestions would be appreciated.
With the squares above, The colors in each square are the same, just each square is a different print. With the squares below, they are totally scrappy and I am using a red tone on tone sashing with a cornerstone between each square. This is a long time UFO and I have so many that I have to get busy on them. I NEED YOUR HELP!!! |
Hmm well I do not care for the gold it is just hey look at me, and the cream is too much like the squares I think you would loose them in it. All the other 3 look very nice but I love the blue batik that would be my choice.

I would go with either the black tot (first choice) or the dark green (second choice). Both of those would accent all of the blocks you show. I think the cream would look a bit off with some, the gold would fight with the pinkish or taupe blocks and the batik is too busy. Just my opinion!

I'm with Chasezzz. I like the black or the dark green. Either one would make the blocks pop. Lovely blocks by the way.

If the red is going to be used as shown, I would definitely go with the black. I would find an area where you can lay out the blocks and preview the fabrics with the blocks. The blue batik does not for the quilt, it is too much on the dull gray shade.
|
I thought the red was a completely separate quilt, if they go together then yes then I would use the black
|
The first blocks I would go with either the blue or green depending on the paint colour of the room it was going in. I like the red you have put between your scrappy Sisters blocks.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the ideas. I was just needing another set of eyes as I had looked at the materials and just couldn't decide. Knew my QB family would set me straight.

love your blocks. I need to try this pattern. I myself see a navy blue for a sashing. I'm sure there is some hiding in your stash.just my humble opinion.
