My mother used a blue landry aid called Sateen. It came i a packet and was sectioned like a candy bar, wrapped in paper. It was blue and smelled very good. She said it was to help the whites drab out any yellowing and make the clothes iron easier and smoother. I haven't seen it in years though. Does anyon know if it is still around? By the way, Kroger has bluing. I saw it there yesterday.

Sounds like the same thing blueing does.

Sateen goes into the starch as I recall to make the iron glide across fabrics. This is OLD school, 1950s. Nooneuses hot starch anymore, at least not anyone I know.It was bright blue and looked a little waxy, but smelled wonderful. I would like to know what they used to scent it.
