Savers Thrift store bonanza!!!
Soooooooo, I went to Savers on Thursday (25% off in our area).......... and NO ONE was there, to save me from myself. They had bags of fabric. Now I have not been buying fabric for anything but backing and borders for a long time, BUT I got almost 250 yards plus a grocery bag full of scraps all for $90 total. It was kind of evenly divided between flannel, novelty cottons and quilting cottons. My wash machine is going to go haywire, and I going to have to find space to put it away. hehehe

Have fun putting up your fabric. Now your backing and border fabrics have more friends to play with! https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images...es/biggrin.png

What a jackpot....lucky woman!! I always measure any new material that is bought and then put a string tag (with a small safety pin) on a selvage with the yardage and where I got it. If you cut a section off for a quilt, remeasure what is left and put this new measurement on the tag. Saves me a lot of frustration when wondering if I have enough left over for a certain project.

We don't have a Savers in our area but when I went to declutter my fabric stash a year ago, I took 7 large brown paper bags full of fabrics and 1 whole bag of just scraps. Never saw any of them hit the shelves so either the workers in the back grabbed them or they went to the ladies that make quilts for the disabled. I did find a couple pieces of dress fabrics at one of their other stores in another town about 6 months later though. Fabrics go quickly here as we no longer have a fabric store in town other than Walmart's and I won't buy from them.

Enjoy your new purchases and have fun with it

lindaschipper what a great idea, I usually put where I got it so I can look for more if needed. That only works if it came from a store though, but I do know not to use it if it's not big enough. Putting the amount on the tag would save time when pulling fabric. Thanks.
