scallop binding question

The fold that forms on either side of the bottom of the scallop......are they stitched down? or left like regular 90 degree corner? Still So many things to learn!

I have only done a couple of scalloped bindings but haven't had enough material on the inside curve to sew down. You have to use bias binding. With the bias it should go through that inside curve nicely.

I stitch them down, but I also stitch down my 90 degree corners.

I took a few tiny stitches on mine.

Personal preference.

I think for show judging you want it stitched down, for anything else it's personal choice. I think a lot depends on the width of the binding and how big of a gap the fold has.

I like this tutorial for scallops. I guess what you do with the tuck will depend on how much fabric you have there.

I'm OCD so I do throw a few stitches in the miter. Also a tutorial I saw, can't remember whose, recommended clipping the corner seam allowance before folding your bias binding over to the back.

I stitch it all down. I do show-quality bindings for paying customers.

Patrick Lose has a video on YouTube that shows how to clip that tiny triangle in the corners.
