I am thinking about scalloped edges for a wall quilt. Is there any "quilterly" reason why I couldn't just make a scalloped facing like I would make on a garment? If it was done neatly, with matching fabric, and the very edge quilted after the facing was turned and tacked neatly toward the back of the quilt, would it be OK? Sorry for what is probably a silly question. Thanks!

It is your quilt, and you can do what ever you want. I have heard of this before in a book, but can't remember which one, so it has been done before.

Just remember when attaching the facing to take one horitzontal stitch as you reach the cleft. In other words, come up the curve, stop, turn 1/4, take one stitch, take another 1/4 turn and continue with the curves. This one stitch will cause your facing (or binding) to lay flatter without the ugly puckers.
