The original "jam" may have damaged the bobbin case. Can you adjust the stitch length or width? Sometimes the stitches need to be longer to work with the rhythm of the walking foot.
Can you adjust the speed of the machine? Try going slower with stitching as see if that helps. The stitch I'm using goes forward two stitches, back one stitch, forward two stitches, back one stitch. It mimics hand sewing when we use a double thread. I'm also not going to use that stitch for a while and see if the jam happens again with something else. It kind of bums me out if there may be a glitch somewhere that's not allowing me to use that stitch, I was really liking the results when it worked but now I'm completely gun shy from using it again. |
It’s not just new machines. Featherweights will do this also.

What bernina did you get. I had a similar problem with my new Bernina 570 QE, it has that big bobbin . It has jammed on my and I have had it into the shop a few times. The last time was several months ago. I still haven't tried it since picking it up from the shop. Just haven't had the heart to try it and have it jam again. I have been stitching on my 30 some year old Viking D1 which stitches like a dream but is computerized and no parts to repair it if it goes down. Also have a bottom of the line Bernina. A little 215 red machine. That one just stitches fine but nothing fancy on it.

It's actually not a Bernina, though I do wish I had one. This one is a Uten 2685 Series. When it runs, it's a champ and a half, but this one little problem is driving me crazy.

Your machine may not like the brand of thread you are using. I know I had a machine that would only use the top line threads.
