Your idea is wonderful. The students may learn how to make quilts to share with their own family and friends, (or maybe something small like a mug rug).

Sounds like a wonderful idea for a lot of reasons!! Have fun and bless you!! I know about the out-of-pocket expenses... taught HS Science for 30 years... loved every minute of it!

I could send some FQs too? PM me if needed???

Looking forward to seeing your pictures...

I am so excited. Thanks to those who have offered to send a fat quarter or some.

I really appreciate it.

Just had to share the students think we should not do academics until the quilt is done. Future quilters are in the making.

A package came today that had three fat quarters in it. A thnak you note is in the mail.

The girls put the fabric up to their faces and felt it. OOOOHHH it was so cute. Future quilters.

Wanted to know why it was so soft?

I'll keep you posted.

What a wonderful idea! Can't wait to hear how the quilting goes. Great life lessons for the children.

I used the tip of using post it notes taped to the sewing machine to help the students keep the seams the same size. The baby quilt is done and sent with a volunteer to do long arm quilting. The second quilt to donate to a child in need is going to be started tomorrow.
I love the turning 20 quilt as it goes together quickly and they like to see the progress.

Will post a picture when I get one.

Her is the unquilted quilt. The students worked together to sew it together. They are working on the next one.

The students turning 20 baby quilt. I think it looks good.
