Hi Guys,

I need to buy some scissors that are good for cutting out small applique pieces. Could I have some suggestions please......?

I have a small pair of Fiskers that I just love!Jo-Anns has them and if you use a coupon, you can get them for $5!

Hi Mygirl,

Thanks... I live in the UK and we can get fiskers here so that may be the way to go!

I have the 5" Ginghers and they cut like butter - finally had to have them sharpened after many years of use.

if you are looking for applique, then be sure and get those that cut down to the very tip. I was in a workshop couple weeks ago with a teacher that does very small pieces. She suggests szissors with serrated edge. The point is important for me in using for applique as you will be cutting small pieces and into sharp v's.

I have the Ginger duckbills and love them!! Whatever brand you choose I would recommend them having the duckbill. Its hard to explain, but you can cut so much closer without cutting into your design. Definitely worth the extra $$.

Hi Guys,

Can I ask what a duckbill is?

I think it's the flat piece that's on the bottom of applique scissors.

I use Fanmore scissors the most. They are sharp down to the tip. They are so reasonable priced I buy them for all household use. I can't tell the difference in sharpness from the ones that are used by the family to cut everything from the ones I use only for fabric. Clover has nice sharp scissors and Fons and Porter has sharp small size scissors. We use the lightweight full size Ginghers at guild, they are great for members that have a hard time using scissors.

I have fiskars, which I have had for 6yrs and never sharpened. Great scissors
