I just happened to log on to EBay last week, just to browse offers on rotary blades. I had just priced ONE 45mm blade at JoAnn's for $10.49---GULP! That's what prompted the inquiry.

Wouldn't ya' know the first listing was for items up for bid that expired in 7 minutes and no bids. I dutifully keep a vigil, updating every 30 seconds, waiting.....waiting.....no bids.....it's getting closer........down to two minutes.....I made my move at less than a minute and a half and bid the starting price. I couldn't believe it! NO OTHER BIDS----I WON!!!!!!!!

I just got the package today.

Oh, what was that? What did I get? That would be so cruel if I didn't tell you, huh??

I got 2 five blade packs of 45mm , 5 single 45mm blades, 2 28mm blades, AND a new, long lasting 60mm chenille blade. All Olfa products, brand new in original packaging.

For how much??? Ready for this----$15.00! BAM!!!!!! AND-----FREE SHIPPING!!!!

Oh, my! I've just got to sit and catch my breath for goodness sakes!

Only here can I carry on like this and someone NOT think I'm totally crazy! But for those that do, watch it! I KNOW how to find you!!!

SulaBug 06-22-2009 01:49 PM

WOW!! :D You really did make a good score.
Good for you. Once & awhile we can get a great
bargain, if we try!! :D

Lacelady 06-22-2009 01:52 PM

Congratulations, I bet you feel as if you have won a lottery.

Mousie 06-22-2009 02:05 PM

chalk it up!

Jim's Gem 06-22-2009 02:08 PM

Great job. I have scored on Olfa blades and products too!!! It is wonderful to know you got a great deal on something you know you will use.

katier825 06-22-2009 02:09 PM

Ebay is the best place for rotary blades!!! I've gotten a couple of great deals myself for them.

So now you can figure out what you saved on blades and spend it on fabric!!! That's how my mind works anyway! LOL

amandasgramma 06-22-2009 02:27 PM

WOW!!! Great! I scored on E-bay, too! Only mine were tubing for the CPAP machine I use for sleep apnea! I got 3 tubes for $18.00. Had I gone to medical supply house it would have cost $15.00 for ONE! Actually, they would have charged my insurance company $30.00 each and only allowed me to have one at a time and then, because I have $500. deductable, I would have paid $90.00 for three!!!!!

Good deal.....now, excuse me, I have to check out E-bay!

amma 06-22-2009 02:28 PM

Dontcha just love it??? :D :D 8) 8)

Ninnie 06-22-2009 02:43 PM

congratulations on the great deal!

sewnsewer2 06-22-2009 03:37 PM

Whoo hoo! You made out like a bandit, congrats! :D

sandpat 06-22-2009 04:41 PM

Great deal!!! I always buy my blades off of ebay...but my best deal was the giant embroidery hoop for my machine...it is $300.00 at my Bernina dealer....I got mine for $80.00 on ebay...yes, I still dance whenever I look at it!

pocoellie 06-22-2009 05:08 PM

Wow!!! What a lucky day for you, maybe you should go buy a lottery ticket.

butterflywing 06-22-2009 05:12 PM

a while back i got 100 45's for $225.00 on ebay. not as good as you did, but still great when they cost, what? about $5.00 a blade? i love ebay. i check it out all the time just in case.

quiltluvr 06-22-2009 07:39 PM

Oh, thank you everyone!!! I had to share the excitement!

I've ordered a bunch of stuff off EBay over the years, maybe once or twice it wasn't good, but really it's a great source.

I've got stacks of fabric to cut into, not yet knowing what it will end up being.
Have blade, will cut!

(I like the way you thing katier825! I may just *have* to do that!)

Adelaide Girl 06-22-2009 07:53 PM

Well done! Great bargain. I use the same blades and they are definately pricey. I wait until the sales are on. Hmm - I think I will have to open up e-Bay! Thanks for sharing your good fortune.

littlehud 06-22-2009 08:43 PM

I love E bay. And congrats on your great find.

gaigai 06-22-2009 08:53 PM

I just love ebay! I have to limit myself. I'll be on continually for a month or so and spend WAAAY too much money, then I'll have to not even look for a couple of months.

My best score was a Seth Thomas Grandfather Clock with Moon Phases, not a battery powered, but true pendulum & weights. Seth Thomas doesn't make Grandfather clocks anymore. It is six feet high and has four different chimes and is gorgeous. I got it for less than $400.00! And it runs beautifully!

Have you heard of Auction Sniper? That's what I use for stuff I really want. It places your bid for you, as little as 3-4 seconds before the end of the bidding. And their servers are VERY fast.

My hubby just LOVES my logic in that! I'm always telling how much I "saved"...LOL

k3n 06-23-2009 01:17 AM

Hey right place right time! Never thought of looking on ebay for blades - will do now!

quiltluvr 06-23-2009 02:16 AM

Be careful---you'll start with blades, move on to scraps and before you know you'll be buried in yardage. So far as I know there is no known cure.

k3n 06-23-2009 02:26 AM

Thanks the Lord for that - I don't wanna be cured! LOL

Bevanger 06-23-2009 05:43 AM

way to go girl

Gaigai can you give me more info on Auction Sniper? What does it cost, etc.?

imjustme 06-23-2009 12:08 PM

Both of these statements describe my warning and joy for you!!! How awesome! I've always been afraid to bid on anything because I've heard so many horror stories.
Hugs,
Sharon

I LOVE Auction Sniper. Go to www.auctionsniper.com. It is free to sign up, and then you get three free snipes. After that, you pay a nominal fee (I don't remember the details) that is charged to your paypal account every three months based on how many snipes you got. I spent (don't tell anybody, ok) over $1,000.00 one month, and I think my total fee to Auction Sniper was about $4.00. So it isn't expensive. And you don't have to sit by the computer waiting for the end of the auction. You put in your bid, and auction sniper will place it however many seconds before the end you tell it to. I use 5 seconds.

If you sign up with them, use me as a referral. it's gaigai, same as here.

Good sniping!

Mplsgirl 06-23-2009 05:20 PM

Thank you girl!!!!!

OHSue 06-23-2009 08:22 PM

It really helps to be a late night person when it comes to eBay. I recently got 20 blades for $35. It was a lot of money, but I feel so rich, I know I can change the blade any time and not worry about limping along with an old blade.
When I am doing a last minute auction I set the kitchen timer and then go in at the last minute, bid about 30 seconds. I have gotten some great deals on fabric that way, also.

sewhappy57 06-23-2009 08:30 PM

Wow that was a score! Way to go!

With auction sniper you don't have to worry about setting the timer, wondering if your server will put it in on time, or even being outbid in the last 30 sec. (which I have had happen!)

quiltluvr 06-23-2009 10:55 PM

Thanks again everyone! Now that I have all those new blades, I'll switch back to using the 45mm from the 60mm. I think I only have less than 10 blades for the 60.

sandpat 06-24-2009 04:33 AM

I agree about Auctin Sniper...I use if for the things I really want. I've only been outbid a couple of times...thats because I really wanted it, but not THAT bad..

Honey 06-29-2009 08:03 AM

OMG :!: :!: :!: what a steal :!: I'm glad you got such a buy. I hate to think what all of that would have cost at my lqs. The sewing Angels were really watching over you :D :D

Quilting Aggi 06-29-2009 08:15 AM

Fabulous deal girl!!!! I use to be an eBay junkie, but now that I am a first time homeowner, the bank owns most of my money!!! LOL ahh but someday I'll get back to playing on eBay again!! I love that place!!

I love my chenille cutters. In fact I am using them on a project or two right now!
