Look at my second thrift store find. When I was waiting for the clerk to write out the tag for the oval top sewing machine cabinet, I looked across the room and spied another sewing machine cabinet. Hmmmm, walked over, opened up and knew immediately what it was. A Singer sewing machine, but I could not remember the model remembered the QB discussions of the finish. I had to have it. Did a quick search based on the serial number and looks as if she is just 6 years younger than I am

Wowza....you've had a wonderful day!!
I'm cleaning up the same exact machine for a friend of mine. It belonged to her husband's grandmother. It's coming out beautiful. I'm using Maas metal polish on all the shiny pieces and a little sewing machine oil is making the black finish nice and black. I noticed that your bobbin slide plate is missing. It was also missing on the machine that I'm working on and I purchased one from Sew Classic.com for $7.59!! That's so-o-o reasonable!! Before cleaning her up Ewwwwwwww.... Ewwwwwwww again! WHAT a difference!! Everything that was brown is now nice and shiny! Only the tensioner is still dirty. Can't wait to see your's cleaned up, too! |
