Scrabble squares

I saw this quilt and think I'd like to incorporate some Scrabble squares into my next quilt
http://quiltedwithtlc.com/gallery/custom.html
(about halfway down the page is the Scrabble board quilt)

Are the squares something that is printed on fabric and one just cuts them apart to use them, or are they painted, or???

If they're on fabric, does anyone know who sells it?

Missouri Star Quilt Forum has a new tutorial video for a Scrabble quilt.

The one Jenny did for MSQC has the letters done from black fabric fused to the square. She also mentioned on the youtube video a site that you can input your information (sports teams, names, events etc.) and they will do out the puzzle arrangement fir you.

What will quilt designers think of next???

I hadn't seen this, but I've been planning a quilt like that for my mom. She loves Scrabble. I thought that I would spell out the names of our family on the board. I plan to applique the letters on.

I've done 3 Scrabble quilts - the first was such a hit, I had to make 2 more. A word of advice: each panel contains the same number of tiles as a Scrabble game so you will probably want to order 2 panels in order to not run out of letters, unless you want to stick to the game rules.

I have not been able to find the site that Jenny Doan referred to but I did find this site that would allow you to make your own crossword puzzle. You could do that for the arrangement and simply transfer over to your Scrabble board. Also, you could always print on fabric or create stencils and paint on fabric. There are several fonts you can download here that are in Scrabble style. I have put this on my to do list after the 10 I already have requests for from my grandchildren.

Love this idea for a class or family reunion!

Jenny Doan uses a layer cake that is different colors of beiges and tans. She found a font like Scrabble and printed out the letters the size she needed. She used Wonder Under (?) and put it on the back of Kona Black. She cut the letters out and ironed them on to the pieces of layer cake to make words. It's pretty cute. I bet if you go to YouTube and put 'Jenny Doan Scrabble Quilt', it'll come up. Good luck.

Thank you all!
I don't have time to explore the links tonight, but I can't wait to start!
