Scrap quilts- can you mix pre-washed and non-pre washed fabrics?

I am in the middle of making four t shirt quilts and I've pre-washed all the fabrics. Can I use them in a scrap quilt with my other scraps that haven't been pre-washed? (I totally OVER estimated my needs for these quilts).

Thanks for your help!! The QB is the best- ever!!

You can use them. I mix prewashed and not washed all of the time in scrappy quilts. Looks just fine to me.

Oh, and I also made a t-shirt quilt and the shirts had been washed but I used new sashing fabric. Looked great.

You can - but do you really want to?

I love scrappy quilts and would not have a problem mixing washed and unwashed fabrics.

I have mixed and not had any problems. I always prewashed darker fabrics but am inconsistent with the lighter ones because I don't worry about them bleeding. So far have not had any disparity in shrinking rates, but that is always a risk when not prewashing. Guess I have gotten a little lazy because I haven't had any problems....

Thanks for the sugestions- I am *truly* lazy and will just put them in my srcrap bin and keep saving up for a scrap quilt in the future...

Ironing isn't my favorite thing. I was blessed to have my Mom wash/ iron the yards and yards of fabric for the t shirt quilts when she was down visiting. Of course I did re-iron all the backs and I actually like to iron as I go through the quilting process, but BIG pieces of fabric isn't as fun to iron...
