I do scrap or scrappy quilts dependent on which box they come from. I have a couple of bins that are only cotton scraps. I do not cut any pieces from FQ or larger pieces of fabric for a scrappy quilt. I also have another bin that contains scraps of poly/cotton blends and garments that have a similar texture. That would leave out thinner fabrics. I also have a bin that holds scraps to be used for crazy quilts. Those are a mix of anything from cottons to lames. Right now that batch is getting to be rather large. For me the fabrics in the latter two bins has to be in good condition.

I love scrappy quilts and have not used twenty or more pieces.

I love scrap quilts, scrappy quilts, scrappy-ish quilts. I am always drawn to them and make my fair share.

I don't mind scrappy but I hate the term "cheater Quilt". A friend of mine said it did not sound nice and I should call them "Convenience quilts". I love that term and it sounds so much nicer.

I always enjoy seeing scrap, scrappy quilts, and I have tried, really tried to make one, but I am just too matchie matchie, the closest I have come to a scrap quilt were the two Amish log cabins I made.

Mish-Mash quilts kind of says it all. I love scrappy mish-mash quilts, but have a hard time making one as I'm too matchie matchie for my own good!

folks have called them stash-buster quilts. also if they are scrappy but mainly one color field ( such as everything has a touch of brown) just call it 'the brown quilt'.

I think 'scrappy' works pretty well. It indicates it isn't a true scrap quilt (made of actual scraps of fabric originally used for another purpose), but that an effort was made to make it look like a scrap quilt. You could call it 'contrived scrappy,' if you want more clarity of meaning.

I love to make scrappy quilts and I do have a lot of left over fabrics from making a quilt and I just put the scraps in a bin and when it is full I just sew away for myself and use a simple pattern. That works for me

To me scrappy is trying to use all the leftover fabrics small to a yard left over from any sewing project. I have what I call my scrap bag and when it gets full enough I try to find uses for them. I call them scrappy because they come out of my scrap bag and do look scrappy but very pretty. As my DGM would say, Wast not want not.
