I am wanting to make a keepsake quilt of my moms clothes. It will be a lap throw and possibly something small for other members of the family. I had a friend who did this for a friend whose mom passed away. She did it in squares. In some of the squares she used tags, or pockets, etc.
I think I would like to do this as an extra income on the side, also.
Have any of you done this? What patterns did you use?

I have done several memory quilts. I usually take the clothes apart and make into blocks. You can piece or put them toghther like a crazy quilt then just put your blocks together as usual. Let you fabrice speak to you.

My mom wore a lot of cotton button up shirts that were striped and prints with knit skirts. Not sure about the stripes and if I need to use both knits and cottons together but would like to. How does knit handle the quilting? All I have seen are tied knit quilts.

I have quilted with knits, you just have to baste closer. They can be quilted on a regular or longarm machine. I don't tie my quilts. Stripes will look good too, I have used them.
