Scrappy string quilt

I have a roll of paper 8 1/4" wide and I was thinking of sewing my scraps to it while it's still in a roll, kinda like some were doing with cash register tape. My question, is this dumb or would it work?

Sure. It would work just fine. Think about whether you want to sew strips to paper roughly parallel to the end, or at an angle, often a 45 degree angle. Think about what you want this to look like in the end. Are you going to cut it in squares, or use the strip as is?

Sure it will work. Use a small stitch so it is easy to pull off and roll it back up in the machine harp until it gets too big.

Yes, this will work. What you could do is cut the roll apart every 8.25" and then you would have squares that you could arrange into various designs.
