Scrappy trip around the world
 

I want to make a scrappy trip around the world like the Quiltville patternhttp://quiltville.com/scrappytripspf.html
and I want a certain color to be a diagonal line through the quilt. How do I set up my 6 strips so that this color shows up.

In the instructions the first seam she picks open (from the tube) is by the brown so do the same with your preferred color.

The diagonal is created with either a dark or a light that needs to be consistently the "first" block of the first strip of 6 strips. The rest of the blocks can be assorted scraps, but that cornerstone block needs to be fairly consistent in color, if that makes sense.
