scrappy wedding ring quilt

if you want to make a truly scrappy wedding ring quilt, how do you determine the corner blocks that are usually solid colors?

I prefer a controlled scrappy. Something that has a bit of structure. I would make all the 4 patches identical, have a single background color for the melons & centers and make the arcs all scrappy.

I made a scrappy double wedding ring for my nephew's wedding.. well it was probably what PaperPrincess called a "controlled scrappy". I bought 11 different yellow and gray fabrics to give the scrappy feel. Then I used the same 2 fabrics for the connecting corners. But I did not use the connecting corner fabrics anywhere else in the rings. (at least I tried not to :) )

I am going to do another one (to keep for me) I bought a fat quarter bundle but I don't know what I will use for the connecting corners. I will be watching this thread for some good input from the board. (these guys are awesome!!)

Meyerst, did you get the DWR back yet from the LAQ? I hope I didn't miss your final unveiling! I loved following your posts and love your quilt.

No I don't have it back yet. I can't wait though! I will show and tell when I get it back :)

Meyert, This quilt is truly gorgeous. I would love to make one - especially scrappy, but lack the courage.

I couldn't have said it any better than PaperPrincess. Just make the arcs scrappy.

Make it to suit yourself. More than one way to do the same thing. Your quilt your way.

Meyert, I love your quilt!!! I didn't realize you had finished it, or at least the top....I know it isn't finished until the binding is on... :) !!! You have to be so proud! It is just beautiful!

Deyert, your DWR is awesome!

I have a beautiful vintage DWR quilt that is scrappy but the corners are two solid colors throughout the quilt. It's quite beautiful and I wish I had a picture but alas, I don't.

Here is a picture of a section of a vintage double wedding ring quilt that I am putting a binding on. The quilter (?) used same solids for each of the 4-patch blocks.

When you look on your pattern, you will be able to see the corner pieces..all you have to do is cut them in the color or colors that you want your corners to be, and make the rest scrappy. In the example below, you would cut all of your "c" pieces the color you want your corners to be.
