I have scraps...you know from the retangle half blocks...the strips...the small ones..you know...
2 big to throw away and fabric you don't want to see anymore...What 2 do? What 2 Do?
I threw away a bunch about 4 years ago and I don't want to throw them away again...cuz they are good scraps...
I don't really do scrap quilting and some of them are from quilts I did and I NEVER wish to see the fabric again...just too good 2 throw away...
Ideas??? Suggestions??? Let me know
I will even do a ziplock bag for anyone who wants to pay the postage...

Do you have a quilt guild near by that has a community quilting group? We have one here in Red Bluff and they make some wonderful quilts with scraps. Donat them to an after school program or something like that if nothing else. How about the local Head Start preschool. Just some quik ideas that came off the top of my head.

You could make a charity quilt for a raffle for your local kindy or hospice perhaps. Or donate fabric for your guild group to all do one block for a charity quilt.

If you can get 2 1/2 squares out of them, I can send you an address of a wonderful eldery lady who could use them. She hand sews them to make quilts.

Maybe you could contact the "Home of the Brave" in your state to donate the scraps to them. They make quilt tops for the KIA military, or Quilts of Valor, or someone that has the time and desire to do quilts for the injured in Iraq or Afghanistan. Try to find a quilt guild or someone to take them.

If I weren't so tied up right now with my husband's care, I'd mail you a check for them. I've made scrappy quilts for the injured for a long time. Let me know about how much you have in scraps, I might be able to store them in my closet until I can do them.

Thanks,
Sharon

I will pay to have them shipped to me. I do scrap quilts for the soldiers and as a member or Sew Much Comfort we have just taken over all the VA hospitals in Michigan as they are sending the injured to their home state now to be cared for and close to loved ones. We have a large group to care for me. I will sew 24/7 to make them lap quilts.

Let me know how many of the boxes it takes to send them in and check will be on way. This would be so great. Church group will help sew.

You are the best
:-) Linda

KO24...if you still have scraps left I could take them for our quilt group. We make quilts for foster kids and for our local VA home and nursing homes. Last year we made over 50 quilts for foster kids and probably another 20 for VA/Nursing homes. Our quilt group is now working on the Military Christmas socks Program. This is something new we're doing this year for the first time.

I like the idea Linda (grammo013) has about Sew Much Comfort sewing. What a great organization. Probably they could use everything you have.

Have you thought about randomly placing them on a sweatshirt and stitching them down. Sew across, up and down. You might have to unstitchc the sleeves to get them stitched and then sew it back up again. No need to worry about the edges. After a couple washings it will have a raggy look which it should. Just something I saw at the quilt show in Paducah, KY last week and made me think that my scraps could be put to good use after all.
