I had recently used up all my christmas scraps. I made table toppers, table runners, pot holders...ect, just to use up all my christmas scraps. I was going through bins and found more!!! I thought I was done with them.
Not only did I find more christmas scraps, but I started putting all my scraps in a bin. I filled 2 bins of scraps...and I'm not even finished going through the rest of the bins. So my daughter put all my scraps in plastic drawers for me(she will organize them all for me after I find the rest of them...she's great at organizing). I just can't believe how much I accumulated in the last couple years. I wonder how many quilts I could make with all the scraps I've saved!!! |
You are lucky to have an organizer...

It seems that no matter how many of the scraps you use the amount never gets less. So much fun to use though.

Good for you!!!
I put all my corduroy scraps from Jenny's quilt in a ziplock bag and couldn't close it, so I made 4 big pillows out of the smaller pieces, pieced front and back. The smallest is 14" square and the others are 16"-18" square. And there's still some in the bag! And that's not counting the big pieces that are folded up and back in the stash...about 2 crates full...she gave me lots of corduroy to work with. |

Scraps are like a big hamper full of guilt, for me. Why aren't you using this? This is wasteful! Why haven't you started the scrap quilts, yet? Why haven't you sorted me? We're all in a jumble here - not even pressed!
So, every now and then, I go through my scrap hamper and set aside only the things that I know I will use again. (and that is virtually nothing) Everything else is given away. I don't tend to put the really small scraps into the hamper, so I know that quilters who love scrappy projects will be able to use the stuff. Then I breathe a big sigh of relief to have that hamper empty again. |
