Hey Quilters,

So I was once shown a seam technique to make the middle seam in a star to lay down (and not buckle) and can't remember it. If anyone know what I am talking about, some guidence would be appreciated.

See photo below for what I am trying to fix.

Take either side of the point, and pull them apart to the seam. Do this all of the way around your point, then press. Looks like this block wants to lay counter clockwise. Once you get them all going the same way, smash the point into submission with the tip of your iron!

I was shown when learning to sew these pieces together to stop 1/4" from the end (or where you meet the other seam line) and then press.

my friend uses a hammer and sure makes the seam to lie flat
