Seamstress tracing paper and wheel

Does anyone use the old fashioned tracing paper and wheel to make their quilts? There are so many different products out there but I never hear anyone mention these for quilting

I can't imagine an application for which it would be useful. I often use it for marking darts in garments, but one has to be careful as it's often permanent.

No, not for quilting.

my carbon paper is permanent so haven't used that. but have tried to use the wheel when using a paper design, then wanted to use chalk ponce through the holes--didn't work for me, but maybe someone has a suggestion on that?

The wheel is good for tracing around the pieces in a pp patten. It helps the paper tear off easier.

I think this tool would work good for marking quilting motifs on the top, either for hand sewing or machine sewing. I think some of the carbon papers that are used with the wheel are probably washable. I think the yellow ones were washable. If you use a blue or black carbon paper, like what was used with typewriters, then those probably would be permanent.

A few years ago I bought some new paper because mine was worn out ( at least 25 years old) The new paper was worthless! It did not work worth a squat and I threw it out and continued to use my old worn out stuff. This was not for a quilt but a shirt. The blue paper left a permanent mark on my white fabric. Be careful it does not leave a permanent mark.

Pencils and templates are so much easier.

*** I still have mine from many years ago, but would never use carbon paper on a quilt.
