Searching for instructions to a variation on a log cabin block

I found this quilt pattern yesterday. I don't know the name, if there is one, but I would love to make a block. Does anyone know the name or, maybe, how I would make this block? I am new at quilting so I can't seem to break it down to try it.

Can you show a photo so we know what you're talking about?

We need a picture or site to go to.

I am going to go this route first. the website. I don't know how but it seems that the quilt is overlaid on another website. You scroll down a way to see the one I am talking about. It has a black background w/ a red square, orange and green designs. http://www.maplesunscreening.co.uk/i...t-designs.html

I know someone on here was working on something similiar and had shown pictures of a table runner, but of course I can't find it right now. Hopefully someone can point you in the right direction.

I found a quilt square that I would like to try. I don't know the name of it. Is anyone familiar w/ this? Here is the website http://www.maplesunscreening.co.uk/i...t-designs.html scroll to the bottom - the black and green one

I do believe that block is called "twisted" log cabin( lots of different versions out there) , and is done with paper piecing. There are several sites with free versions. but I found this one is this what you are looking for?

Something's really messed up in the link you have. Try this one for the original - and thus a way to contact the designer. http://rainewalker.wordpress.com/200.../summer-swirl/

Lori S seems to have found the basic block pattern.

Twisted Log Cabin, I think.

Thank all of you for your information. So glad I found this site. I went to the real website Krista and found a link to a free tutorial! I am so excited. I just have to learn to paper piece first. It is called Log Cabin Swirl. When I get better and can do this one I will definitely post it.

Look for free paper piecing downloadable patterns.

There is also a book by Barbara Kaempfer called Log Cabin with a Twist by AQS....may be out of print, I'd try amazon first for a nice used copy.....this book has the copiable paper patterns and many different ways to make twisted log cabins, good resource.

Yay! I'm glad I could help. I didn't look closely enough at the site I posted to notice there was a tutorial. There's lot of paper piecing tutorials on-line too, so it sounds like you are on the way. I just learned to like paper piecing very recently (after a failed attempt a few years ago). Good luck, and be sure to post pictures :)
