Hi Everyone,
I read the message board regularly and love all of you with such great sharing of patterns and information. My dilemma is that I bought a stack of old quilt magazine at a quilt show last weekend, but discovered that a lot of the patterns had been torn out and the pages are missing. Very sad. So...my question is...from a July/Aug Fons & Porter 1998 issue...does anyone have a pattern for the Sunflower Sayonara quilt pattern that was originally published in "Scrap Quilts Fast and Fun" in 1997? I have emailed the company also asking, but have had no response. The good news is that included in the stack was the very first issue of "Sew Many Quilts" and it's in perfect condition. Thanks in advance for any help...or the actual pattern would be fantastic.

I'm not at home but will check when I get back as I saved all of those. July/Aug of what year??

ghostrider 04-20-2011 04:16 AM

The book (Scrap Quilts Fast and Fun by Patricia Wilens, Oxmoor House, 1997) is available at several places online in both hardcover and paperback or you can try to get it from your library (through inter-library loan if necessary). The ISBN is 0848716701. It has also been on eBay recently, so watch there.

I corrected my original message. I am looking for the July/August 1998 issue. A needle in a haystack for sure.

If you go to fons & porter site:www.fonsandporter.com/aspx/FonsandPorter/.../currentissue.aspx?id...
you can order a copy of this magazine.

maryann in Indiana 04-20-2011 05:34 AM

I have sent them an email with my request because I do not see the issue I need on their back issue list.
thanks for your help,

whinnytoo 04-20-2011 05:58 AM

You do know that it is not legal for someone to make a photocopy of their pattern and send it to you, right? They can send you the original magazine or pattern pages, but not a copy.

maryann in Indiana 04-20-2011 04:07 PM

Gee...I sure don't want to go to quilting pattern jail!!!

The description of this magazine reads:

By Leisure Arts
"Celebrate every month of the year with wonderful quilts from Marianne Fons and Liz Porter's popular magazine, For the Love of Quilting.
The twelve designs include Winter on the Ohio, Scraps of Green, Stars and Stripes,
Sunflower Sayonara and Christmas Stars. Soft cover, 80 pages."

THIS ONE ALSO mentions that it has that pattern (cheaper too)

I should have read all the responses before PMing you. Glad you found the pattern.

Rettie V. Grama 04-21-2011 06:31 AM

You might be able to find it at leisurearts.com

Mariah 04-21-2011 07:23 AM

I goggled it and down in the bottom rt. hand corner, it came up as being one in 12 old patterns available. That is as far as it would let me know, then something about "text." You might get better results!
Mariah.

Just found one that HAD been on eBay for 99 cents with less than $2 shipping. It ended on March 31 with no bids. Here's the link. Perhaps you can make contact with the seller to see if the pattern's still available:

Thank each and every one of you wonderful quilters out there who responded to my plea for the old Fons and Porter's issue with the sunflower pattern. I am a busy realtor, but Easter weekend is for family, so I will be with family and doing my sunflower applique. God Bless, and Happy Easter to all.
