seeking advice

I'm looking to buy a new steam iron, just for sewing and quilting...don't have a ton of money, so an Oliso is out of the question. Any suggestions for $50 or so...:confused::confused:

My small guild that sews together 5 days a month has purchased several irons over the years. The one we like best and that has lasted the longest is the Black and Decker Digital Advantage iron.

I got mine at Costco for $49, and it works like a charm. I bought it because the price was right and I did not regret it.

I also have the B&D Digital Advantage and like it a lot.

Of all the irons I have had, Shark, GE, Hamilton Beach etc. B&D has always been the best!!

I bought a Sunbeam Steam Master at a garage sale. So far I like it and it was cheap. I don't know what they cost new, or if you can even get this model anymore, but I do like it fwiw.

Black & Decker, 19.99 and it works great!

We have had many, many discussions on irons, if you want to use the search feature. I like my Black and Decker Digital Advantage. Not so much the Rowenta. Leaky.

I just bought the Black and Decker at Wal-Mart for 20 dollars. If it lasts a year or two, I'll get another. Now I have one upstairs and one down. I've purchased 3 or 4 expensive irons to have them drip all over the place.

had a Shark Professional iron =didn't last. Recently bought a Black & Decker classic iron on sale for 14dollars & I like it better than any other iron I've owned.

I just had to go look at mine to find out for sure and it is a Black and Decker. I've had it for so long, I can't remember what I paid for it, although I'm sure it wasn't alot, because I just wouldn't for an iron. I like the automatic shut off and I just use tap water when I want steam. Works great. I know it is well over 10 years old.

I agree. Black and Decker is my choice. I just bought a new one. Old one was 15 years old and cost $20. This one was $28 at Target.

Thanx so much to all who answered. Looks like B & D is on my shopping list. I'll be hitting WalMart for sure. I'm new to QuiltingBoard, and in fact, haven't had a chance to do any sewing or quilting in the last 8-10 years, so I'm just getting back into it.

Thanx, again!
